Where did you get your inspiration for your pieces?
I often picture a piece in my head that I want to implement in some way. I usually base pieces ona certain silhouette I am trying to create, and build upon an initial figure drawing. Being giventhe theme allowed me to take inspiration for these initial designs, which I can then take further asI work continuously on each piece. Some art inspirations that my pieces reflect include the film“Hellraiser”, Moncler’s spiderman puffer, 20s gothic horror, and elements from Visual Kei andthe Victorian era.
The cohesion of opposing ideas and concepts through contrast is where I draw most ofmy inspiration. The notion of the “attraction of opposites” is visible everywhere. Not only is itrepresentative of unity in contradiction, but it also can exhibit the inner conflict occurring withinan individual. At any given time, each person is dealing with and carrying several differing andopposing ideas in their own mind. The presence of conflict and contrast is just a glimpse into thedynamism of our surroundings, as well as individuals themselves. This complexity in the idea ofdisclosing the intricacies of human existence inspired me to be expressive in the creation ofgarments that signify contrasts present in my own mind.
